why future? we already trade heavily with Asia and Europe and probably export more to those parts of the world than we import, resulting in a national trade deficit. this is not a good thing and we’ve lost much of our manufacturing capacity to countries where labor is cheaper. it’s great for the EU and Asian countries of course, putting us in a position of being dependent on them for inexpensive, quality goods that we don’t make here anymore.
my solution: don’t buy anything made in China (lousy human right record, totalitarian government, etc) and insist on buying stuff made in the US only. fat chance, I’d say
