We’ve gone through a rough 10 years; recently we’ve ended up about 5 paychecks behind because of a job loss (not fired-long story). I have trouble understanding why, we are in the U.S. (I am anyway) and we’re doing our very best to get caught up but it’s not only difficult, it seems impossible because everytime things like this happen, the car dies, etc. (no bus close). We have an apt.- we rent so we don’t have a house to sell or get a loan against. Credit is bad. Here’s the thing, if you end up late, the companies charge you late charges which makes you even MORE behind (even when you call them and tell them you are doing your best) — the electric company added TWO additional deposits to our account which was almost $400.00 just because we were late and IT’s LEGAL. I don’t understand this. I thought we should be taking care of each other with our hearts — not trying to destroy people with greed. We don’t have the extra money but FPL is rich. This is just ONE example. Opinion?
